Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the use of discourse analysis on English language comprehension of hotel industry trainees in Isfahan Technical and Vocational Education Organization (ETVTO). It was non-experimental in terms of data collection and process. And in terms of the implementation process, there was little research. Participants in this study were 100 candidates who wanted to take English courses for the hotel industry at ETVTO. Using various tests, 28 of them were selected as members of the statistical sample. After collecting and categorizing the data, the data were analyzed in two steps using SPSS software, 24.0. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were performed in two sections. According to the research results, discourse analysis has had a positive effect on students' comprehension of English. It cannot be said that language development scores vary between the sexes, but it can be argued that the impact of the critical teaching method in the advanced group is greater than the impact of the critical teaching at the intermediate level
