It was noted that one of the most distressing challenges faced by the EFL learners was the poor presentation of their paragraph writing skills. The researcher noticed a prevailing pattern in their paragraph writing, where most of them were unable to construct proper sentences, making too many grammatical errors and also lacking in vocabulary. These factors have eventually restricted them from expressing their ideas clearly and effectively in their writing. This paper reports a study which investigated the effect of recruitment and frustration control as scaffolding techniques on Iranian EFL learners' paragraph writing. This study is quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized control group design. The total number of participants after Nelson Homogeneity Test was 75 students who were in three different groups: two experimental groups and one control group. There were twenty five students in each group. The result of the pre-test showed that the experimental groups and the control group were equal and homogenous. After 8 sessions treatment to experimental groups by analyzing the scores of writing tests in post-tests, it can be concluded that recruitment and frustration control as scaffolding techniques can significantly improve the Iranian EFL learners’ paragraph writing, as the results of post-tests showed recruitment and recruitment have effect on learners' paragraph writing, but it should be mentioned according to the results of the study recruitment has significant effect on learners’ paragraph writing. The implication of this study is that teachers use these effective techniques to improve the EFL learners' writing especially Iranian EFL learners who are very weak in writing and expressing their idea and thoughts on paper because of frustration and losing their confidence and do not know how to focus on writing and continue to write.
