چكيده
Errorsplay fundamental roles in learning process. For many learners errors are associated with negative feelings and most of the time fear of failure or having negative emotions of making errors prevent themto achieve a successful learning. How teachers correct students’ errors is one of the most important elements in creating anappropriate classroom environment. An effort is made in this study to investigatethe relationship between teacher’s error management behavior and high school EFL students’ communication apprehension, self-regulation competency, and metacognitive awareness.Students from all Eleventh grade classes of high ranking high schools who were including 82 girls participated in this study.They completedfour questionnaires including error management checklist,Personal report of communication apprehension, Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI), and Buffard self-regulatory questionnairefor gathering the data.In order to analyze the questionnaires, the scores were put into the statistical package of SPSS program as statistical analysis software.The Pearson correlation was run to determine the relationship betweenteachers’ error management behavior and students’ communication apprehension, self-regulatory competence and metacognitive awareness.Results showed a negative relationship between teachers’ error management behavior and students’ communication apprehension. The results also showed a positive relationship between teachers’ error management behaviorand students’ self-regulatory competence and metacognitive awareness. The result of this study may provide the educatorswith a better understanding of the influence of error correction methods on ELL learners.
