چكيده
Web-based learning has become a very popular learning mechanism. However, Web-based learning may not always work effectively, and sometimes fails to meet its learning objectives. This study investigated MA TEFL students’ perceptions of the distance education learning environment. The participants of this research consisted of one-hundred and ten MA university students studying at LMS system of Payame-noor University in 2018. They were 28 males and 82 females selected based on availability sampling. Their age ranged from 24 to 46 years. Distance Education Learning Environment Survey (DELES) (Walker, 2003) was used to explore the relationship between student satisfaction and the following predictor variables: instructor support, student interaction and collaboration, personal relevance, authentic learning, active learning, and student autonomy. The findings revealed that active learning and student autonomy were significantly and positively related to student satisfaction. The students held positive attitudes toward active learning and student autonomy. In contrast, they expressed their most negative views in relation to “instructor support”. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences among the ratings made for different dimensions of web-based distance education. Implications of the findings of the present study are crucial for instructors, practitioners, and institutions planning to offer or currently engaged in offering distance education courses.
